Project Details

Originally constructed in 1951 along the eastern US coastline, this Tony Smith icon suffered from years of insensitive additions, alterations, and neglect. The home was restored to its original design intent, which had never been realized. A new bedroom wing was connected to the original structure with a glass-enclosed bridge, keeping the sculptural, stand-alone character of the original design intact. Sustainable strategies were employed to heat, cool and enclose the original structure, raising its ability to perform to today’s energy standards even with an extraordinary amount of glass.
